Sunshine Beach officially dives into summer mode with a surfing party full of crashing waves, warm sand, salty skin, and endless ocean energy. Surfboards line the shore while sun-bleached hair, tiny swimsuits, loose tanks, and barefoot confidence set the tone. The lagoon sparkles beneath the late afternoon sun, and somewhere between the surf and the bonfire, strangers start looking dangerously familiar.

Prepare Second Life Birthday (#SL16B)

On 23th of June 2003 the first version of SecondLife was released and with it this wonderful virtual world was created, which we residents often only call the "Grid". That was reason enough to celebrate the 16th birthday of SecondLife on this day and to thank Linden Lab. All of us would not have met, there would not be these friendships around the world, if it wasn't for SecondLife. There are a lot of different events around this birthday and we also wanted to have our #SL16B party. And SecondLife + summer, you think about beach, sun and fun. So we went to our beach again, but this time to the Beach Club. There we had prepared everything to celebrate this day together with our friends and guests.

Like every year we have prepared a party for Cinco de Mayo. And so we have continued very nice and successful parties in the previous years. The Clubs of the Sunshine Cove Family have a long tradition of special events. Cinco de Mayo is a famous day for our friends from Mexico and Latin America. And its a very funny and colorful party. We celebrate it in the "Cream Dance Club" in 2015, in the "Trails End Music Hall" in 2016 and last in the unforgettable "Sunshine Cove Beach Club" in 2017 and as Street Festival here at the Sunshine Realm last year. Last year were the Preheating Party at Friday and the Holiday Party at Saturday self.

This party is really one of the most colourful events, and of course also here at the Sunshine Realm. And Mexico, that somehow only fits to our Caribbean beach. So we prepared the new beach club and met at the beach.

Today is a different day. Not only here in the blog. Contrary to my other habit of simply rewriting the blog about an upcoming event afterwards and making a report about it out of the invitation, I will write a new post today. The blog post "Hawaiian Luau" will keep unchanged. I don't want to destroy this anticipation, this tension that the previous blog still expresses, with a factual report. Well, you could say that is usually the case. But events at the Sunshine Realm are something very special. And the joy in the preparation is also a very important part. Something that makes SecondLife special for some of us, especially if you do it together with friends. But it's also very time-consuming, and you don't always have everything you need in your inventory. And this weekend was a lot different, so some more words about the Sunshine Realm itself. And I just don't want to write about the sunny side of this event, I want to show the shady side.

Maybe it was a premonition. But this picture shows me rather thoughtful and sad. And not laughing as you should expect it for a luau in the sun on the beach of Hawaii. That's why I have chosen it now, although it comes from the preparation.

We have come up with something special for the event next Friday (4/05/2019). Summer is just around the corner and we are already looking forward to the sunny and warm days, to the time on the beach. Therefore we kidnap our friends and guests on this day to bring them to the beach of Hawaii and celebrate a Hawaiian Luau with them.
