Ugly Holiday Sweater
The holidays can be a stressful time. And maybe you have enough of the serious and contemplative Christmas celebrations. And it seems like there is a never-ending list of invites to sort through for the entire month. And this in real life and SecondLife. We can't help you in real life, but we can try it here in SecondLife. We invited our friends, group members and guests to break this stressful cycle for a little Christmas fun. We did celebrate our naughty Ugly Holiday Sweater Party. We met us on Friday 21th of December at 4pm at the beautiful frozen pond in our Sunshine Realm. DJ Valantine entertained us for more 2 hours with a colored mix of music. We were curious before, how many people would join us in the pre- christmas time? And the firsts guests waited already, as we moved from Room Club to the Realm at 4pm.
Odette, she is one of our friends and a Sunshine Girl, had her first Rez Day at this day. We were happy that she spent this evening with us and prepared a surprise for her. The Sunshine Realm is not just a Sim or the events that take place here. What's special are our friends and guests. And a Rez Day in SecondLife is like the birthday in RL, and a day to show that someone is important for you. And to wish him or her all the best for the next year.
And it was a special day again, many guests followed our invitation and so it became very fast on the frozen pond. We quickly had more than 50 guests who spent the evening with us. DJ Valantine entertained us with a mix of different music, also fulfilled many music wishes. So it was a wonderful evening for everyone. I really hope that some of the guests enjoyed it.
As usual at our main events we charged our contestboard in splitmode with 1,000 L$. But this should be was only the start of a crazy race this night. This is also what makes our events so exciting and unique. Donors are often found to help and support us and to donate Linden for ongoing Contests. In a first step increased Odette with Phil the contest to 2,000 L$. In a second step donated Vitt, a friend of Skyee 1,500 L$ for the contest, and we decided to open the Contest for logins again and to wait with the voting.
We were 57 persons at the event, as we started the vote. With 48 participants and 8 pages can a voting get difficult. Its each time a exciting moment, how would its work? Would we get lagging again? Would it possible that each participant can vote without problems? And the answer for all this questions was yesterday only "Yes, its worked well!"
We finished the official part of the party with a firework. Not because we had a pre-Christmas Ugly Sweater Party, it was the highlight for Odette's Rez Day Party. SecondLife is a colourful world, and it's always impressive when it gets even more colourful. So this was also a very special moment on this evening.
The official part of the party ended with the fireworks burning up and the prizes being paid out to the contestants. Many guests went home, but as usual some stayed and we had a wonderful afterparty. DJ Valantine went into injury time, and despite the cold we quickly danced half-naked on the pond. It was a nice end of an impressive evening.
We are already looking forward to tomorrow when our Pajamas party continues with our Christmas Warmup Weekend. We wants try to bring back that special moment when, as children, we walked down the stairs and ran in the living room with big and shiny eyes to see that Santa Claus was there. This weekend will end with our big Christmas party "Champagne & Mistletoe" on Sunday, which we will celebrate together with the Room Club. We are looking forward to the live performances of Stinna and Joaquin. Both are wonderful, and couldn't be more different. But that's the special thing about SL. Then there are the sets of our family members and DJs Valantine and Rosie. Here we ask for suitable formal clothes.
I will finish this blog post with a picture of the lightings trees about the pond. You will find this picture, and many more, in this Google Images Album. Maybe you will watch them and have fun with this. I look hopefully forward to see you at the Sunshine Realm somedays.
