Winter Is Coming

Our 1st weekend in the winter season

After having had a lot of fun during the construction, we were really curious how the first weekend would turn out. And of course what our friends and guests would say about our new winterland. On the first weekend the frozen pond with the ice rink should be in the foreground. And of course there was also the question whether we had thought of everything, whether everything was adjusted correctly and should not become too laggy.

On Friday 16th of November at 4pm it was finally time to start the winter season 2018 / 2019 with our event "Winter Is Coming". On the frozen pond we had prepared everything, and DJ Valantine as DJ took over the entertainment program for the evening. Most of them had also followed our request to choose appropriate clothes for the winter.

It also got fuller very quickly. Since we still lacked the experience with this new world, we were of course very nervous. How would the lag become, especially the snow cloud caused us worries in the beginning. Already after a few minutes our snow world was fuller and more colourful. And everything worked as we had imagined it would. And everyone danced, many listened to the music and we had a lot of fun together.

Of course we had opened our contest again. Through generous donors it was possible to increase the jackpot step by step. After a first anonymous donation we doubled to 2,000 L$, then we added another 200 L$, until finally Phil made the sum round, and in the end we had 3,000 L$ in the jackpot. So we had a generous jackpot again for the start of the winter season.

At the end there were almost 60 people at our event, and 56 were registered for the contest. So it should be exciting again, would the board hold or would Lag make a vote almost impossible? Of course we all asked to drop unnecessary stuff and especially HUDs and addons for the body, and to do without emitters, but a lot would depend on the voting behaviour. Unfortunately, some of them click on the board repeatedly in a fast sequence and create real lag. We also had to exclude 3 people who could not behave and delayed the voting for all others because of their behaviour. But in the end we had 54 votes, and also the payout worked well.

That was the time for us to relax. We stayed together, chatted, danced and, of course, Valantine went into after-time.
