German Unity Day

28th Day of German unity

Tomorrow is the 28th anniversary of German unity. What began with the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 was completed on 3th of October 1990 with the German reunification. What seemed impossible a few months before became reality. It was a peaceful revolution and the loud call from the street. With German unity began a nearly 20 year long phase of peace in europe and the most parts of world, the cold war seemed forgotten. I grew up in that time.

Doorway to the Garage with Barrier

Even if it is in Secondlife still the eve, we want to celebrate today at 5pm. For all who want complain about this, in Germany it will be the 3rd of October at 2am. I hope that a lot people will follow our invitation and we will have a lot fun together, special in the Oktoberfest- Week. So we have our contest with 1,000 Linden today too.

ȯ Contest 1,000 Linden to Split

We built a big wall with a barrier to part the upper skybox from the new entrance of the garage, its seems the garage is the best place for our event today.

And at least I will celebrate with a laughing and crying eye. Proud of what we have managed to open seemingly insurmountable borders. But last year I already posted some pictures at the day of the German reunification in my Flickr account, and wrote with ambivalent feelings that the wall made of stone will be replaced by a much more dangerous wall in people's minds. It's no coincidence that I had put on black jeans and matching tops in the pictures and my eyes were painted black. And this wall in people's heads didn't get smaller last year, it got bigger. And that all over the world.

Wall in Minds, Day of German Unity 2017

"Today is the Day of  German Unity. There is so much happen after the Fall of the Berlin Wall and the Reunion. But today, just now, we have new Walls, Walls which you can't see or touch. Maybe its sorrow and fear about the future, mixed with rage. But each fourth men in the east of Germany voted for a right-wing extremist party, which disseminates xenophobia and nationalism. Like Trumps slogan "America First" proclaim this party "Germany for the german". Women are a little bit more wise."

That's why I wrote paragraph 1 of our constitution on the poster as a reminder to my own compatriots. But not only for us, for all people everywhere in the world. Secondlife is a wonderful world, almost without borders (I hate yellow ban lines) and with few prejudices. I wish myself and my children that all people in the real world live together once without nationalism and hatred, are no longer afraid of the stranger, but understand it as enrichment. The politicians, who only stir up fear, are finally punished, no matter if in our country, the USA, Russia, North Korea, Turkey or elsewhere. That the world community prevents wars, as in Syria, instead of individual countries seeking their own advantage in them. That religions coexist peacefully and enrich each other, instead of allowing preachers to preach hatred from pulpits, minarets or anywhere else.

Open your Minds and don't listen Idiots

This is the world I dream of. It is impossible? That's what people said before the German reunification. And today Germany is a united country, and the vast majority of Germans are friendly, tolerant and cosmopolitan. Together we can tear down the walls in our heads.

And I would like to close today's post with a quotation from Immanuel Kant, a well-known German philosopher.

Human dignity:

Things are valuable, when we can use them.
A shoe, for example, is valuable, if it fits and you can walk well with it.
If the shoe is broken and no one can walk in it anymore, it has no value any more.

With people it is different:
Man always has a value.
Even when he is ill.
Even if he cannot work.

If something always has a value, one says:
It has dignity.
Every person is therefore valuable,

because he's human.

And at last, the Paragraph 1 of the German Constitution

  1. Human dignity is inviolable. It is the duty of all state authorities to respect and protect it.
  2. The German people are therefore committed to inviolable and inalienable human rights as the basis of every human community, peace and justice in the world.
  3. The following fundamental rights bind legislation, executive power and jurisdiction as directly applicable law.

Some more pictures like usual in my Goggle Image Album. And maybe will be there some more pictures after the event.
