Review of January 2019

January is now slowly coming to an end. Time to look back. And as in 2018, the start into the new year was again very successful. We continue the successful history of the Sunshine Realm with a series of interesting events. More than 550 guests visited the events and we distributed a total amount of L$ 22,750 in contests.  More as 1,000 visits to the Sunshine Realm in the first days of this year. We added a new Venue with the "Realm of Shades" during our Super Blood Wolf Moon Weekend.

As that is based on the core of Sunshine Family, we work together as friends. Some of us are together since years. And many friends support us, have just as much fun as we do with the events to slip into new costumes and find themselves at new venues. Many of the events were colourful and exuberant. And there is the Sunshine Cove Guests - Group. We have now stabilized this group with over 800 members, by the end of the month there were even 818 in the meantime.


But let's look back.

After the turn of the year we had some different events, we had a Country Night at Trails End Music Hall. It was a spontaneous idea, we also use the old Trails End group for the invitation. And so this event certainly became special with 80 visitors. Country Nights are still very popular in SecondLife. 

The following weekend was a SciFi Weekend. We decorated the Warehouse in the upper Skybox for this. It was the year 2145. We have changed our planet through warming and pollution. We have searched the universe for new resources. Each year we came deeper in the universe. And now it is certainty, we are not alone.  Aliens have reached our Earth and are preparing to invade it. The aliens have arrived at the Sunshine Realm. The last fight for Earth has begun around and in the warehouse. Will we be able to rescue our planet? We fought again Alien in 2 events. (Alien Attack, Alien Continuum). 

Then we were a weekend under the sign of the Blood Wolfmoon in the new "Realm of Shades". Above the Sunshine Realm the Sun has set and the darkness has unfolded. 

The moon has risen behind grey clouds and opened the gap between our world and the world beyond. A cold breeze is blowing over the swamp and it smells rotten and musty. Eerie noises echo across the swamp, freezing the blood in your veins. The shadow beings have come out, and have taken over the Sunshine Realm and turned it into the counter-sim Realm of Shades. Come to our Skybox and enjoy the mood of the darkness, in the Sign of the Super Blood Wolf Moon between 18th and 23th of January.

We had 3 events about this weekend, we were in the darkness, later enchanted and finally behind the moon with our guests. 

We also used two National Days and went to our Sunshiner's Pub. After Trivia Day in the first week of January we celebrated Opposite Day at the 25th of January. This event was special, nit only because so many came, and that with amazing costumes. We restarted the Region during the event and could finish with this unusual step the event successful. Now I get goose bumps from excitement when I think about it.

On the last weekend in January we leaned back and went to the winterland again and did remember that we still had winter in the northern hemisphere, many of us were struggling with frost and snow. But also how beautiful the winter is. So we all looked for warm things from the cupboard again and were for 2 times 2 hours on the frozen pond. Also this event should be unforgettable for many. And this not only because we had L$ 5000 in the contest, more as 80 persons visiting us at this evening with 68 persons in a peak same time, 59 persons joined the contest.

And also the last event of the month was Salsa Night and dedicated to a national holiday too. Although a little different than originally thought. The 29th of January is National Corn Chip Day. How can you celebrate a Corn Chip Day in SecondLife. The best way is corn chip topped with salsa or a little cheese. 

We have the perfect location with the Sunshiner's Pub, and with DJ Yezika a Latina as entertainer, and spent a hot night together with Salsa rhythms. Fortunately, our INTAN dance balls are also filled with hot salsa dances.

So we finished January in the Sunshine Realm. It was a wonderful month with some highlights. And February is also casting its shadows ahead and we will have special events again. So we will prepare together for the Super Bowl game in a sports bar, celebrate the Chinese New Year in the Trails End Music Hall and for Valentine's Day we will certainly have something special in mind.
