Hollywood Night

Hollywood Night

Actually we wanted to do another literature event. Because it is the National "Read A Book Day" at the 6th of September. Misty and me share the love to read good books and we talk about this. Good books take us inside and let our imagination grow. You should try it again.

But Odette told us about Phils idea of a Hollywood Night. So both inspired us for changing the literature night to a movie night, or more exactly to a Hollywood Night. We are happy about inspirations of our friends, thank you Phil. And even a Hollywood blockbuster usually starts with a good book. So we are not far from the topic. It's not your imagination that makes the book work, the actors and the director take it away from you. Well, we wanted to turn it around so that our guests got creative. They were called to try to reenact them favorite actors and their roles. Its not the Oscar Night, but we made it festive and went with our guests and friends into the Burlesque Palace with this special event.

Now we were curious how our friends and guests would interpret this topic. Today it was certainly not easy, and some creativity was required. But we had also opened the emergency exit and made it clear that you can come to a dance night in Hollywood with an evening dress or tuxedo, or at least semiformally. We were also looking forward to returning to the Burlesque Palace for another event. As the Sunshine Realm has some very nice venues, it can take some time until we return to one of them.

Misty and I had talked before. This time it was very difficult for me to make a decision. But then I remembered the yellow, sexy bodysuit, and that the first time I saw it I had a film reel in my head. And I also have Katanas in my inventory. So I chose Kill Bill. After all, Uma Thurman is also blue-eyed, tall and blond. Misty was still swaying, but then came as Marilyn Monroe in a charming dress. They instinctively looked for the manhole cover that would make the dress blow up.

We started the event at 4 pm, some of us came a bit earlier. So we had time to look at the other costumes, take pictures and guess who is what in the movie. Also Odette and Phil had thought about it again. They came as Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart in the legendary movie Casablanca. Both were just wonderful to look at, you couldn't help but look Odette in the eye. And even without an explanation it was clear which roles they played. And they certainly wouldn't have stayed in Paris in such a wonderful world as SecondLife.

But Celi had the best costume of the evening for me today. She came as a wonderful Mary Poppins and is simply magical. Just as Julie Andrews enchanted the world in this role of probably the most famous and popular nanny, so it was Celi today. She came with the umbrella, and was spreading joy around her.

Because everyone else came with beautiful costumes and we all had fun, it was a great evening. Also DJ Valantine had arranged a multicolored mixture from the music of old cinema classics. So the musical entertainment of the evening was not only appropriate to the theme, it was just something different. Only if our guests would come, or if they weren't willing to invest so much effort in this evening. And at the beginning it looked as if it would be a quiet evening. It started very slowly.

We started the evening as usual with a contest in split mode and filled the jackpot with 1,000 L$. Phil donated another 1,000 L$ and we increased the jackpot to 2,000 L$00. In addition we promised that we would add at least another 250 if more than 30 people participated. But then it did not come. But this not because too few came, because it became slowly, nevertheless, full. Phil doubled the jackpot with a donation to 4,000 L$. So it was the highest jackpot this summer. and of course everyone was happy, and it also had an influence on the visitors.

So more and more people came and our ballroom got fuller and fuller. At the end we had 75 visitors, and 60 were also together in our Burlesque Palace. Some had to leave us as usual before, others came a little later. But so it was a huge success and also the voting went smoothly. I had to admonish 3 participants, because there are still some who don't learn it. Instead of just clicking once, they fire volleys of mouse clicks on the board and increase the lag, exacerbating the problem. Just to gain an advantage of their own. But everything went smoothly and in the end 54 participants voted. And although there were 10 pages, and a cycle lasts a little longer, we were still 15 minutes finished with the voting. So it was a wonderful evening with many guests.

After we said goodbye to the guests and of course drew their attention to the next events, we started with the after-party. Of course many of us were shining again and we danced together. DJ Valantine entertained a bit longer and we had fun together. But somehow most of them were tired, some are having dinner, so the party dissolved an hour later and we still had some time for us.

As always there are more pictures in a Google Images Album. Have a look inside and browse through the album. Sometimes pictures can say more as words. Here in the blog you can find the next events and topics on the page "Upcoming Events". Maybe you want to come and visit us. Of course you can also use the landmark and come by like this. Our Sim has many nice corners, and is mostly empty even if we don't have any events at the moment. So maybe a romantic trip with your lover. So its worth to save both links as bookmark ;-).
