Walburgisnacht (Walpurgus Night)

We celebrated "Walpurgisnacht" at Sushine Realm today. We have been  seamlessly following up on the eerie Halloween events "Zombie Apocalypse", "Friday Fright Night", "Scare in the Warehouse" and "Bloody Formal Ball" in October last year and the 3 Blood Wolves Full Moon Night events in January of this year and returned to the shadow world of nature spirits, beings, witches, warlocks and devils. With the events "Darkness under the Moon", "Enchantment under the Moon" and "Behind the Moon" we had unforgettable events in the world around the gothic church ruins, which we had built especially for these events. Early on we had the idea of the counter-earth, and with it the name "Realm of Shades" as a contrast to our Sim "Sunshine Realm". An other name for this place is "Shadow Realm".

Therefore we returned to the "Realm of Shades" again today. Even if the eerie swamp in front of the ruins doesn't exist anymore. At this place there is still a unique, uncanny atmosphere. I also wrote the two erotic short stories "Awaken in the Swamp" and "Enchantment under the Moon" during this time.  

We have deliberately chosen the German name "Walbugisnacht". In many countries the holy Walburga is honoured, and there is the traditional dance in May. But we have here in Germany also another tradition. The Walburgis Night is also the Night of Witches. In the night from 30th of  April to 1st of May the witches fly at brooms to the Hexentanzplatz (Witches′ Dance Floor) on the Brocken, the highest peack in the German Harz low mountain range. This mountain is also often called Blocksberg. There they celebrate and dance together and present themselves to the devil. Hagedisen (forest and mountain goddesses) were celebrated here even before Christianisation. This was later forbidden. This custom is not only to be found in Goethe's "Faust", in many poems and books, paintings and pieces of music this theme plays an important role.

In all parts of Europe, parts of the old natural religions have been preserved, and even though it was not as widespread in Germany as in the Middle Ages, many nature-loving women have been persecuted as witches and burned at the stake. So it was reason enough to celebrated this day as "Walburgisnacht". The brocken spectre is a common phenomenon on this misty mountain, where a climber's shadow cast upon fog creates eerie optical effects. And we have the Realm of Shade as our Counter- Earth in Sunshine Realm, this seems the best place for this event.

We were curious like usual who would follow our invitation and would come to a witch dance with us in the old ruin. And what kind of outfits our friends and guest would chosen if they would come as witch, forest and mountain goddesses or warlord.  

And, of course, we were not disappointed. Again, many followed our invitation and we saw many creative ideas on the subject. SecondLife is a dream world, it really is always beautiful when so many people follow the theme. 

DJ Yezika and the Nighwishes entertained us with rock tunes, and they also came as witches to our dance in May. At the end we had 35 visitors, and at the end there were 27 together in the ruins and dancing. And again there were wonderful outfits that fit to the theme. So this night in the Sunhine Realm was again an unforgettable one. 

We had new guests, but we were also happy that Mir and Ozzy came by again. We had missed them in the last weeks. Of course there was also a contest which we had filled with 1,000 L$. As always we ran the contest in splitmode. Somehow it was a bit more laggy again, and that also made itself felt at the voing. Unfortunately some don't listen. Again there were the guests, who didn't click on the board only once, but fired whole series. And then they had to be in Unvote mode. So we had to stop the vote and put a prim in front of the board. Some just don't seem to learn. Even that doesn't stop some of them, they just change the prim and click on it. Since the warnings do not suffice, we have excluded 5 persons from the contest. It's almost funny that they ask why they're not on the board anymore and can't vote anymore. And others who claim not to have clicked on the board more than once. At the end there were 20 votes and we could finish the contest and pay out the winning sums. The only hope left in the end is that everyone understands that there is no point in trying to gain an advantage or becoming impatient. 

And even if we don't stay that long on Tuesday because most of them have to work again the next day. But Yezika played another half hour and we had another after-party. And also the witches can be sexy and wear sexy lingerie under their clothes. Or dancing with naked titties. Just this topic lets the fantasies run wild. At the end it was a nice event and we will surely remember for a long time. And we have a Google Images Album with more pictures, maybe you will explore it.
