In the Moon's Orbit

In the Moon's Orbit

Today we continued our special week for the Apollo 11 Mission with the first moon landing witch we started at 16th of July with the "Launch to the Moon". And we're looking back at the moon mission 50 years ago for this event too. On July 19, 1969, the Apollo 11 reached moon orbit and swung in. With that the first stage was finished and the preparations for the landing with the special module "Eagle" could begin. Reason enough to have an event for this tonight.

Our Events were planned before and independent of the SecondLife Challenge (#Apollo50th, #Apollo50, #Apollo11, #SecondLifeChallenge). But you can use our Sim and events well to make really fantastic pictures and take part at the Challenge. And you can share the pictures in our Flickr Group too.

Also our moon mission arrived in the orbit tonight, for us started with this event a wonderful weekend in SecondLife. And it was the middle of our lunar week. We have rebuilt the Space Station again this week and Misty added a Walkway at the Main Stage. It was a great improvement and we looked forward for an event here.

We met at 4pm and opened the event. DJ Valantine had put together a lot of good music on the subject. She recorded her stream into our Sim and the Pary could start. And quickly it got fuller. We had already made it clear in advance that we expected all our guests and of course the Sunshine Girls in particular to wear outfits that were in keeping with the theme. If you want to take part in this challenge, you don't have to come to us. So the walkways filled up quickly and everyone came with wonderful outfits.

We had only finished the area with the walkways on Thursday and were curious how an event would work. We didn't know how many people would come and if the space would be enough. But it worked really well. And only 2 people left our event because we asked them to choose a suitable appearance and outfit. So it quickly got fuller. And it was really all there, astronauts, aliens, robots, ... It was a wonderful sight.

Also in numbers it was a very good event. Whether it is because of the SecondLife special week, or the topic is simply so interesting. We had new guests again. Altogether there were more than 70 guests at our event that evening, and at the end there were 61 people together in our space station.  We started the contest with 1,000 L$, but already after one hour there were 7 pages in the contest with participants, so we increased the jackpot to 1,500 L$. This continues the positive trend at the Sunshine Realm, and we can keep our number of visitors in July and even win new guests.

And the proportion of guests who joined the stream was also larger. Most of our usual guests with ALTs were not there. We made the high number of visitors with many new ones. In the meantime more than 30 people listened to the stream. The Sim was very quiet and stable, we had hardly any lag. So we waited a long time with the voting, despite the many participants. After we had opened the voting, all participants were able to vote in about 15 minutes. At the end 50 votes of 52 participants were counted and we could pay the Linden to the guests.

And the Sunshine Realm, that's after-parties, too. Now it's not easy to strip in the costumes, but we changed our space suits to lingerie and danced. Valantine kept us entertained with fresh and good music, and some new guests came. So there were some on this 2nd part of the party and we had a lot of fun together.

After Valantine had to go to bed I had a TV and we continued with Youtube videos. Many of us are not native speakers, Youtube videos are a building block in learning English. We shared our experiences and remembered the first steps in SecondLife. That I write this blog in English today, can easily follow the local, and besides writing several IMs was unthinkable in 2015 when I became a resident of SecondLife. But it was the friends, most of whom are still at my side today, who not only helped me to learn, they gave me the self-confidence and showed me that it is worse not to write anything, to stay excluded than to make a few mistakes that nobody laughs at.

Like usual are a lot more pictures of the evening in one of my Google Images Albums. Maybe you follow our trip to the moon with the swung into the orbit. And you will explore the pictures to get an impression about parties at Sunshine Realm. Or you was as guest there an I could "shot" you. You want visiting us? In my blogpage "Upcoming Events" are events of the next weeks and some informations. But you can visiting the Sim alone and explore it. You can find us with this landmark in the grid.
