May is when Baseball is in full effect in the USA. We also want to take up this topic and celebrate on this day our Sunshine Baseball Day with our friends and guests.  Today we finally had our first baseball day at the Sunshine Realm. Days of preparation were behind us, and we were very curious. How would our friends and guests welcome this event, would many come and how would the mood be. But here is the magic of SecondLife, we can create illusions, dreams and fantasies. So also a baseball court. And for me it was something completely new. I wasn't really interested in the sport before. 

That's how I searched and watched videos. I talked to some friends. Why is baseball so popular in the USA, but here in Europe it's mostly unknown. And in the end it is probably best explained by family. That you grew up with these sports events and that the fathers and their children threw balls again and again. And with it just good memories connect, which are shared later again with the own children. It is a part of the family, and in our special case the Sunshine Family in SecondLife is a perfect theme. So the bar was very high for us again. Would we be able to do this?

The 28th of May 1779 is the Birthday of Thomas Moore. He was an Irish poet, singer, songwriter, and entertainer, now best remembered for the lyrics of "The Minstrel Boy" and "The Last Rose of Summer". As Lord Byron's named literary executor, along with John Murray, Moore was responsible for burning Lord Byron's memoirs after his death.

We have a very comfy place  with our Sunshiner's Pub and we thought it would be a good idea to redecorate the Pub to a Cafe and to make an event to the Sunshine Cafe tonight. We wanted using the Birthday of Thomas Moore for a Literature Night in a Cafe with our Friends and Guests. Maybe we could convince some to pick up a book again and read it. Misty and me share the love for literature and we think that the power of words can move mountains. And so invited we all to join us in the outfit of them favorite novel.

Preparing for Memorial Day

Monday 5/27 is Memorial Day in the USA this year. This is an important holiday and will celebrate every year on the last Monday in May in honor of those killed in war for their country. Memorial Day dates back to the American Civil War. Originally on this day the dead soldiers in this war were commemorated, after the First World War this was extended to all American soldiers killed in war.

And because this also refers to the Second World War, and especially the American armed forces guaranteed the security of all free and democratic states during the Cold War, it should be reason enough to celebrate this weekend with our friends from America. And to make this party for them. And SecondLife should be a world without borders, and without walls.

Most of us all love the sun and tanned skin. Many think also that this shows the "healthy". Often is the opposite the case. Some of us use a darker skin in SecondLife in summer or tanning lines. And there are many wonderful beaches in SecondLife. Each year on the Friday before Memorial Day, it is National Don’t Fry Day.  The goal of National Don’t Fry Day is to raise awareness of all the risks of overexposure to the sun. It is important for everyone to remember to use sun protection and sun safety practices. Maybe to wear a hat to be safe. And we want remember this in SecondLife too. If you go into the Sun, be safe!

National Waitstaff Day is observed each year on May 21 in the USA. This day was created to show appreciation to and thank all waitstaff for making our dining experiences enjoyable ones. We wanted extent this to a more common Service Worker Day. A lot persons in each country are service workers and help us in our real life. In addition to the waiters, these may be janitors or nurses, cleaners and house keeper, stewardess and pilots and much more. Sometimes we hardly notice them, or take them for granted. After all, they are paid. But compassion and politeness are priceless. Hence the "Service Worker Day" at the Sunshine Realm.

The 3rd Saturday in May is "Learn to Swim Day" in the USA. On this day, parents and children should be made aware of the risks of bathing and the urgent need to learn to swim. Now there is a SecondLife with many beaches, beautiful water landscapes and lakes, but swimming can be "learned" by buying a HUD. Nevertheless we wanted to take up this topic, because we all have a real life, and our children, siblings, friends, and of course we ourselves should be able to swim. 

So on this day we celebrated our "swimming lessons" party and went to our beautiful beach. Our lessons was for adults only. We invited our friends und guests to put on a sexy bikini, or the crunchy swimsuit, and to come to our party.

The third Friday in May is NASCAR Day in the USA. NASCAR is probably the most popular motorsport series in the USA. Now our friends and guests come from all over the world. Even if there are now other assertions and slanderings, I come from Germany. Not only Formula 1 is very well known here in Germany, the DTM (German Touring Car Championship) is also very popular. The DTM is perhaps comparable with the NASCAR series, but is driven on normal racing tracks and not in oval.

We therefore want to use NASCAR Day to celebrate a motorsport event in the Sunshine Realm. Now we don't have a race track and the garage is no longer available. That's why we chose the venue with the most space and go with our friends and guests to the Trails End Music Hall.

Ever since I've known Misty and been in their clubs, Yezika and Ruby Nightwish have been a part of it. Later Vanny joined as part of the Nightwishes and supported Yezika and Ruby. She is also a DJ in the family clubs. That hasn't changed as Misty and I run the Sunshine Realm together. Yezika comes from Guatemala and is a real Latina, and our Vanny is from Brazil. Reason enough to look over the southern border of the USA, and as a thank you for the three nightwishes to do this event. We are glad that you belong to our club family.

And since Yezika is a Latina, we also want to do a Latin Night, with the matching clothes and music. This is a follow-up to the first Salsa Night and the Havana Night, and we will go to Sunshiner's Pub again. We're requesting hot Latin American dresses and suits.

In most countries of the world, the second Sunday in May is Mother's Day. This year it is the 5/12/2019. Now there is no event on Sunday in our Sunshine Realm, so we used the evening before to make a "Prepare for Mother's Day" Party. We wanted to honor all our mothers on the eve of Mother's Day. We met us in the beautiful Sunshine Garden and spended 2 hours with our friends and guests. DJ Yuimetal entertained us this evening with a wonderful set of romanic music. The event was a festive ball in the garden, and most of our guests followed the theme. Women came in festive gowns, and a lot men in suits. It was a really amazing evening.

Review 1st Burlesque Event

Usually I rewrite the previous invitation in the report about it. Now I can also rewrite this blogpost "Burlesque".  But today I would like to open a new post. Why? On the one hand, the preparation for the Burlesque event was more complex than usual, and we were certainly mentally more connected. And certainly not only because our cute Odette loves this topic so much. 

A new venue at the Sunshine Realm has been created, and even if we had planned it only for this one, very special event, we will keep it at least for a short time. It is a beautiful ballroom and gives us a lot of possibilities. So we have already considered which events we can do here in the future, and we will also take up the burlesque theme again in the future.

Burlesque is a theme closely associated with beautiful women and erotic dance. And with flair of the golden age in the 20's. In the 90s there was a renaissance as Neo Burlesque. Reason enough for us to use this theme for an event. Beautiful women as burlesque dancers who offer themselves erotically to the music, men in tuxedos, tailcoats or suits. Damp ambient red light and the smoke of cigars and cigarettes, come back with us to the golden age. And we will have a new Venue for this event, the Sunhine Ballroom.

DJ Valantine will entertain us with the perfect music for this night. We will starting at 4pm and like usual are 1,000 L$ (S) in the contest board. Best condition for a wonderful event. Come down to us and celebrate 2 hours, follow us back in the golden area.

After-Work with friends

After-Work with friends

Because we are planning some special events for the next weekend and there will be a new venue, we decided to postpone a simple and proven event on Tuesday. After- Work with friends, or "Come as you are" does not make high demands on the guests, and with the Sunshiner's Pub we have a matching place also for such an event. We started as usual at 5pm with the set of DJ Yezika, who came today without her support Ruby and Vanny Nightwish. But that didn't break the mood, we had a very good event today.

Like every year we have prepared a party for Cinco de Mayo. And so we have continued very nice and successful parties in the previous years. The Clubs of the Sunshine Cove Family have a long tradition of special events. Cinco de Mayo is a famous day for our friends from Mexico and Latin America. And its a very funny and colorful party. We celebrate it in the "Cream Dance Club" in 2015, in the "Trails End Music Hall" in 2016 and last in the unforgettable "Sunshine Cove Beach Club" in 2017 and as Street Festival here at the Sunshine Realm last year. Last year were the Preheating Party at Friday and the Holiday Party at Saturday self.

This party is really one of the most colourful events, and of course also here at the Sunshine Realm. And Mexico, that somehow only fits to our Caribbean beach. So we prepared the new beach club and met at the beach.

During the last days I had an invitation from Viola of the tributee band Lighthammer and visited some of the concerts. Of course Lighthammer is a German group in SecondLife, so the concerts are often of German bands, from "Pur" to "Rammstein". It is always nice to get to know a new Sim. And also the music is often very nice, and it's fun to see what the Lighthammer crew does with the theme. The costumes, the stage and the animations.

Post Celebration of 1th of May (May Day, Labourday)

In many countries, Labourday is celebrated on 1 May each year. Since we are in a borderless world, reason enough for us to celebrate this at the Sunshine Realm. Many members of the Sunshine family come from Europe, for example from France, Italy, Croatia and Germany, others from South America, here Argentina, Brazil or the Dominican Republic. In most of these countries, May Day is a national holiday.

Review of April

Review of April

In recent months we have already looked back and taken stock. We want to look back at April in the same way. We had some very nice, partly funny and colourful, but also mystical and mysterious events. Again more than 600 visitors came to our events and we paid 18,750 L$ over the contests to our guests and friends. There were 398 votes. We had some new event formats and changed some in the Sunshine Realm in April. The count of members in our group reached 850 at end of april.
