Costumes & Cocktails

Costumes & Cocktails

We went to our Burlesque Palace tonight. First we just wanted to make another formal Halloween ball. But that was too easy or too general for us, and we can't walk around with bloody clothes for a month. Halloween is the time when we can slip into costumes and be someone else. Costumes & Cocktails. A cocktail is usually a high-proof alcohol mixed drink. So different ingredients are mixed, which then combine to something new. And exactly this is what we wanted for this night.

That's why we invited all our friends and guest to a very special dance ball on this Saturday. Tonight was our first "Steampunk Night" at Sunshine Realm. Steampunk is the combination of modern and futuristic elements with the Victorian age. Our friends and guests was asked to mix this both elements to a own costume cocktail. And through the Victorian elements it's kind of like a formal dance ball. We have Halloween and which place in the Sunshine Realm could be better as our Burlesque ballroom? We was very curious which steampunk outfit all would find and how many people would come to our night "Costumes & Cocktails".

So once again it was a challenge for our guests and friends, and some of them surely had a lot of fun again to find the right outfit for this. It is one of the most important parts of our events. Some use this for own fantasies, roleplays or making photo shoots. Its really fun to see this. But also for us it was a bigger task to solve this time. Of course, we had just been able to go to the Burlesque Palace. We would have saved a lot of energy and time. But that wouldn't be the Sunshine Realm. So we covered the walls and floor with more or less rusty metal plates. This combined with the original classical wall elements of the ballroom was a perfect mix of technique and Victorian time. We covered the stage space with a metal plate and rotating gears. A futuristic Tesla watch and various pipes completed everything. Finally a few pictures with women in steampunk style and the Burlesque Palace was still the ballroom, everyone would recognize it, but still new. The perfect cocktail for our party.

We could only wait for the beginning after everything had been decorated, the topic had been discussed with the DJs and the invitations had been sent. Like every Saturday, some of us were in the Club Room for a pool party. I went to the venue 30 minutes before, Misty had finished the interior shortly before and now the landing point for the event had to be moved. One last look, everything was ready for the event. The Burlesque Palace was the perfect place for our first Steampunk Night. We were really nervous, and looked at the values of the sim again. Lag and Dilation were ok, the FPS- Rate looked well too and our neighbors were sleeping. After the problems at the last events I think alI may understand our worries.

Then it was time. DJ Yuimetal took over the entertainment and sent her stream in our Sim. And also the first guests came. Apparently the topic today was a bit complicated and many people only listen to "Halloween" and think they can come as zombie or ghost. But our events are more complicated. Since 4 of the guests didn't react to IMs, I had to throw them out of the Sim. What would they think if someone in torn jeans came to a wedding and stood next to the bride and groom and was on every picture? It is simply a question of decency to dress according to the occasion. Later we also have 3 of the guests who came again at the last moment, and then not even with steampunk outfit, to take out of the competition.

So it's not surprising that there were less people at the event and the group got a bit smaller again. But we want authentic events with changing themes and guests who follow these themes. And we distributed 5,250 L$ in our contestboard to the guests. I think we can expect each of the guests to behave decently with us, react to IMs and not just park his avatar to skim off at the contest later and dress accordingly. I would also rather concentrate on my friends and dance instead of being security. But the attack yesterday, and again and again guests who disturb, and then not even react make it necessary. Because only then the events become what they are, unique.

Well, how else did that night go? DJ Yuimetal had put together a good set and we had fun. There were great costumes to see. We had 57 guests, less than on Friday. That's probably because of the rather complicated topic and many events that took place in SecondLife at the same time. In addition we "sent away" some guests. Therefore we can be very glad. And 44 guests were also together in our "rusty" ballroom and had fun. It was another very successful evening.

We also had a contest again and the board was filled with 1,000 L$ at the beginning. Since many of the guests took part in the contest and there were no donations today, we paid 250 L$ again, so that we ended up with 1,250 L$. This time the voting was really quiet, so we were almost finished on time. And in the end 32 participants had voted. We could all say goodbye before we went to the after-party. Of course we also pointed out the events on Sunday in the Club Room and our next Halloween event on Tuesday, when the undead will walk through the Sunshine Realm. Many of the guests left us before it got hot again at the after-party.

So it was a successful first week of our Halloween season. We had nearly 180 visitors and distributed 6,500 L$ with our contests to the visitors. We can look forward to the next 2 weeks, where some interesting and exciting events will follow. We would be happy to welcome you or see you again as well.

The After-Party was of course also very nice. It was empty, DJ Polpeta had taken over the entertainment and we took off superfluous clothes again. So many of us danced topless and in lingerie again. It's always a nice ending. We also got new visitors who only came to the after-party. And 8 pm was then also this to end and the party weekend at the Sunshine Realm was over. But after one party is before the next, we are all looking forward to Tuesday, when the undead will be gone.

There are many pictures of this event. I've put them together in a Google Images Album for you. Have fun looking through them. If you were there, maybe we "shot you down". Otherwise the pictures might say more than I can express with words here. We would be happy if you would stop by at the next event and become part of our Sunshine Rocker Group. Here's the landmark if you want to drop by. In the Halloween time should it bring you mostly to the swamp around the Realm of Shades.
