2nd Octoberfest Event 2019 @ Sunshine Realm
Today was the day. After the 1st Day of our Oktoberfest at the Festival Meadow yesterday we went out to the meadow in front of the Trails End Music Hall Club today and celebrated the 2nd day of our Oktoberfest at the Sunshine Realm. There should be Bavarian outfits again, we took the Dirndl dresses and trousers out of the wardrobe, and the barrels with beer were already filled up. After the massive general problems with SecondLife the day before and on our 1st Oktoberfest day we were of course very excited and nervous. If everything would work today, or if the technical problems would continue. We came at 4pm from the Club Room event where DJ Vanny had played. The first ones were already there, also DJ Yuimetal. At the beginning there was some confusion around the theme, but after we had clarified everything, we started the event at 4pm and DJ Yuimetal entertained us with a wonderful set of a mix of German music. It's Oktoberfest. And also the first guests came fast and it became fuller on the meadow. And with the trees around and the Trails End Music Hall's Barn in the background this is really a wonderful place.
I had already noticed while preparing the contest board that it took unnaturally long until the board reacted. And at that time there were only 3 people in the Sunshine Realm. This could not mean anything good. The problems of the day before, still script problems in Secondlife, and a new neighbour who wants to establish the 3rd club in the region, and also fires fireworks of visual effects in his empty Sim. Whatever it was, this day could not end well and run normally.
Now we had promised yesterday to start today with 1,500 L$ into our contest. We wanted to address as many of yesterday's visitors as possible and hoped they would come again. And promised is promised, somehow we would manage that. But the response times of the board became longer and longer and more guests came. Then there was an anonymous donation and the jackpot was 2,500 L$, and the sim was always slow. With an average lag of 10 - 15% events were no problem, but we were already over 20% and the trend was upwards. And there were even more visitors. We tidied up in the background to take some of the load off the sim.
Meanwhile there were more than 50 people in the Sim. That's a lot, but not really a problem. On Tuesday we were more at our "Video Game Night Event" and everything went well. And there we were in Sunshiner's Pub on the floor, today we were on the platform with the Sunshine Garden and the Trails End Music Hall Club more than 2 miles above the floor. Normally events in a high altitude skybox are less susceptible to lag and technical problems. In total we had more than 60 visitors tonight and there were just before the end of 52 together in the sim before the first ones left and sent some news that the lag is too bad for them today. Nevertheless, just before the voting 41 people were registered in the contest. A lot, but we already had events with a lot more.
For most of the guests it was a nice event until then. The music was beautiful, if for some surely rather unusual. So I translated some of the most beautiful texts and posted them in the local chat. So at least everyone could get an impression of what the German songs were about. There was a lot of laughing and joking, the music was beautiful. So it was a nice evening apart from the Lag.
Then we tried the first voting. But it came as it had to come. The board reacted too slowly, the click took a minute to react. The usual suspects again started clicking wildly on the board to gain an advantage. Even in an interruption, someone derezzed and clicked the prim we had placed in front of the board. This also means many pop-up unvote windows that are so bad for the performance of the board, as users of alts are the ones who click often, and then switch to the next alt to vote with them. So the windows and thus the communication channels remain open for the time being. Meanwhile I had 6 messages from people who had voted a wrong person because of the delay, 2 of them had left the sim already disappointed. I also don't know if it's a coincidence, or if it's related to this massive clicking of the ALT farmers, who often get the accidental votes. After 10 minutes break still not all clicks had been processed and you could see how the counter went further up and down.
After a short discussion we decided to stop the contest and after a reset with the fresh board to start a new attempt. We have warned the people who were noticeable before one last time. I really can't hear the recurring apologies any more. We have all asked for unnecessary HUDs for body, cock, pussy and nipples to be discarded to help. One visitor said the board would work better if it was higher. So we have to move it to the roof of the barn of our Trails End Music Hall Club. So the background was also easier. Then it went into the 2 round. Also here you could still feel the lag. But the measures before together with the reset helped. In addition some guests had left us. So we could thank the guests, the performance in the sim was step by step a little better again, although still in the critical area.
Meanwhile we were in the after-party. Everyone who knows us knows what that means. We took the dirndls off and swapped them for sexy thongs. That of course helped. At least we encouraged all guests to follow the example. DJ Yuimetal had finished her set and DJ Polpeta recorded her stream. And Polpeta always prepares herself intensively, so she had put together a set that you can hear in German festive strongholds, be it the Oktoberfest, Mallorca or the huts and après-ski parties in the Alps and Tyrol. Partly I was really glad that most of the others didn't understand these lyrics. Some things can't really be translated, luckily.
Immediately after the login phase we started the new voting. Only 28 guests had registered, and although slowly, this time everything worked and the votes were also assigned to the desired person. So we were able to finish the contest with almost an hour delay. We had 26 votes, and the payout also worked, although it took a little longer. Despite all the excitement, meanwhile we have enough practice to enjoy an event anyway, and for the guests it was somehow entertaining in the end. It was an exciting event.
Tonight we said goodbye to the guests with a few words. I told everyone that they could read everything again in the blog. And that the future events for the next 3 weeks can already be read on the page "Upcoming Events". Next week the Halloween events will start with us.
We stayed together until DJ Polpeta finished her set around 8pm and then distributed all of us. A very exhausting but beautiful evening was over and we all let it fade before we all disappeared into bed.
As always there is a Google Images Album with more pictures. Today there are also some performance charts showing the state of the Sim. On the hourly evaluation you can also see the two previous events on Tuesday and Friday. Only then you can see how badly it hit us yesterday. But, we managed it, and for most of the guests it was probably more entertainment than trouble. If you want to stop by, you can find all information about our next events on the page "Upcoming Events". And there are some exciting events planned for Halloween.
