Emoting in virtual life

I am often asked how and where I learned to emote. And what is important and what everyone should pay attention to. And if I couldn't write some kind of cookbook or rulebook for emotes. Friends sometimes have fun and say that they collect my emotes in a notecard to sell them in the marketplace. I don't even think I'm that good at emoting. I jumped about my shadow only and write what I think and what I'ld do in the real life. And also for me it is a problem to find the right words in a foreign language to describe feelings. But you can learn every day. And I dreamt after some years SecondLife the first time in English. 

In this blogpost I don't want to write about writing Emotes as a dancer in a club or as an escort. It's like real life, it's a service, and it's not really about equality. Nevertheless you can learn to writes emotes in good clubs. And of course everything written here also applies to clubs. Only the guests can sit back and let themselves be pampered and you are the entertainer. Because nobody comes to see pixel dancing, you are the reason.


That's why I already wrote in a notecard for the dancers in the Cream Dance Club in spring 2016: "listen other emotes but don't use this as template. find you own style" and later added the statement: "use never templates to emote, use the action around for this". So the most important thing is to go to a good club and listen. I had some good teachers. Or go to a sim with public role-plays, and learn. In most big Sims for roleplaying games you can listen as (( OOC )), i.e. "out of character" and simply without becoming a prey yourself. And to pay attention to your own feelings and reactions, and to think about emotes yourself. This is really important to always have emotes, even if you don't need them yourself. So to train. Especially in the role play area there are often real role play classes in which experienced role players teach the beginners the basics. So I took three lessons with a Ponyplay class, and could really learn a lot there.

I've also practiced with some dancers in the past, and that's certainly a better way than writing some "cookbooks". And that we all help each other. But today I just want to write something about this seemingly so difficult topic. But it won't be a cookbook that you can just follow, and it won't be a set of rules either. Because there are simply no rules for "emotes", even if some people say so. It is not a science. There is a lot about feelings and emotions, profound thoughts and dreams. And for them there should be no rules or definitely corsets. But you can observe some things and should avoid others. And I want to write about that.

What are "Emotes" now and who should deal with it. Every resident of SecondLife should be able to do it, and therefore everyone should be concerned with it. But I often hear sentences like "I don't have to write emotes, I don't do role plays". Or "Emotes, that's what the dancers do in the club". Or even worse: "Emotes, that's what the women have to do". Oh God, men are sometimes really bad. Unfortunately the vocabulary often ends with "Fuck", "Ohh", "Hmmm" and not to forget "Cum".  

So everyone somehow finds a reason not to deal with it. But we already have two areas where it is important to really write emotes. Role plays and clubs. Only, why did I write before, everyone should be able to do it? And even though it might be easier for women to recognize their own feelings better and to talk more about them in real life, and to want to talk. Men should also deal with it. It is certainly not our job as women to write emotes alone, except as dancers or escorts, if men pay for it. But I have already written, today it is not about these services. Of course this is not a business in SecondLife either, it should remain a role play. Unfortunately, more and more sex workers from emerging countries have recognized this for themselves in order to get rich men in SecondLife. But that is also another topic.

Of course SecondLife is a kind of communication, we also flirt. That is so nice, we can try ourselves out without risk. At least at the beginning we hide behind the avatar like behind a mask. And if it doesn't work, we can teleport away. Here in SecondLife it is easier to meet other people, because behind every avatar there is usually a human being. And many of us also have virtual sex here. Whether with strangers or a partner. Even if now some groans, and SecondLife immediately again into the Schmuddelecke push. And each, which interacts and communicates in SecondLife with others, should write therefore also emotes .


When we communicate in the real world, we do it on different channels. These include language, but also conscious or unconscious reactions of the body. And precisely these reactions often show our current feelings. We start to sweat or a shiver runs up and down our backs, gets goose bumps or blushes. That can have different reasons, fear, but also joy. But also the desire for someone, if we want to arouse the attention. So we look at someone, make eye contact or look away in embarrassment when we are caught. We slide nervously back and forth on the chair. But sometimes we also wink at them or just smile at them. The list is so much longer, we can unconsciously take a step back or approach someone, bend over or lean back, or fold our arms in front of our chest to show distance. We women in particular rub our hair off our faces, a kind of embarrassment, or lick our lips, perhaps to remind us of a taste or simply because our lips become dry. We use our makeup and powder ourselves again or pull on the lipstick. I have often seen men pick up a pack of cigarettes or something else and turn when they concentrate on someone. Or they turn the glass in front of them on the table. They may still be the hunters who instinctively fix their prey. Both sexes take a sip from the glass before we turn back to someone else. This saves us a little time. We speak louder or whisper, the voice becomes rougher or smokier. We lean into someone's arms, and when they close their arms around us, oh God, then we are in heaven and feel welcome and protected. And when it really is sex, we instinctively open our legs or squat our legs a little and lift our hips to signal our readiness. We breathe faster, our heart pounds up to our throat, we get goose bumps. These reactions are part of what is called "emote" in the virtual world.  

But maybe that makes the emotes too complicated. Most of us do all this unconsciously and our body always reacts. Hormones, be it adrenaline for anxiety or endorphins when we are happy, and even more so estrogen or testestorone when we meet someone we are sexually attracted to. We breathe faster and feel the pulse in our own body. Our hands get sweaty and we get goose bumps. The nerves react more sensitively and it seems to become lighter and warmer. Suddenly we feel the slightest draught. Our face, no the whole body radiates more and we do not get a smile suppressed. So we are nervous and wipe our hair off our face. Maybe as a teen we have practiced certain flirting reactions, but at some point it just happens unconsciously. And because exactly this communication channel is so important for us, but gets lost in a virtual world, we write emotes. We describe direct actions, which we don't really have to do with our avatars anymore, and the body language. 

• she smiles as she noticed him looking ot her ... embarrassed she strokes her hair from her face .. blows a last strand away from her eyes
• he takes the glass of whiskey between his fingers ... wondering if he should go to her .. .turns the glass slowly and smiles

• she listen the music from the piano .. looks short to the artist and enjoying the slow and romantic music and looks back to the man ..
• he still laugh uncertainly, stand up to come to her chair .. nods to her as greeting and sits down beside her ... "You seems alone tonight. May I invite you to a drink?"
• she looks into his eyes ... her eyes beamed and she nods ...

Emotes is about everything that cannot be heard. It is as written before the "nonverbal" communication and action. But it is also about your feelings and physical sensations. and about what we imagine in our heads around it. Here we women have perhaps an advantage, our head radio runs mostly more multicolored and in stereo sound and we include our environment in our day dreams, because we are not only focused on sex. So we can use the emotes to take our partner into our world. We can include the room, smells and noises. Because this is exactly what we do in our daydreams. There is scent, sounds, .... A certain smell not only awakens memories, it also stimulates fantasies.

And so much I can say, if these sensations are really synchronized in a role play or in virtual sex, it will really happen and you will have an experience of a special kind. So it's worth practicing and thinking about it a little bit. About your own reactions and feelings, about dreams and fantasies.

In general, everyone involved should always write emotes. It can be more than 2. Yes also that is SecondLife. And you shouldn't make a science out of it, and you shouldn't take the Para role plays as a role model. Simply write and read. And don't wait for the other one to write so that you can answer. At the end no bill will be opened and who has written how much will be counted. If you have a thought or a feeling, write it. And if both think the same thing and write at the same moment, wow, then it happened. Always try to include a part of the action beforehand.

If you don't learn to emote properly and let yourself go, you'll miss something. And if you use a translator, you'll lose half as well. SecondLife is a good way to learn English. Emotes should always come fast, so don't write novellas. Short but meaningful. If someone tells you "take turns with your partner" it is nonsense. Write emotes is write about feelings and thoughs, you have one just now? So write it and don't wait! 

But one is really important. Just never write what the other feels or does. You can include the animations as a storyboard and if he starts to fuck you in the animation may you also write how you feel him in you, how he open your petals with the tip of his member and how you can feel his dick inside. But especially men, and especially this kind of women's understanders often write what we does and feels. Sometimes it might be good for the flow to write what the partner does, but then the synchronicity will never be established. But fuck, how was I supposed to know what he was feeling or thinking? And technically emotes are often written in the third form. You start it in SecondLife with "/me" or a abbrevation. I write mostly only ":" and this happen automaticly. The chat of Secondlife will write the following text italic and starts with your name.

Some are bothered by it, and complain. For others it is important because they are so in a role. Emotes themselves are often written in italics and the spoken word is normal or within an emote with quotation marks.

But especially when you have virtual sex with your partner, you might want to write about your own feelings. Then the form doesn't matter anyway. And then there is no rule of this world that tells you to write in the 3rd form. 

At last a example of a longer flirt. I met a guy in a dirty sim and this was the start of a following wonderful play ;-) And hee, no prejudge: its roleplaying.
