Dance in the Barn
The last event in August was again a Country Night. We wanted to "dance in the barn" together with our friends and hopefully many many guests. In the past it was the Country Nights that were well attended. We love our big barn and love it to come back to this amazing venue. So we will finishing the August with a Square Dance together. As I talked with Misty about this, she asked for a German Translation of "Square Dance". We have some words without translation, we call it americanism. So we say normally Square Dance too. But some, mostly older people (white unhappy older men) call it "Scheunentanz" ... you can translate it back as "Dance in the Barn". And so we are back to an old kind of our events.
Doro Pesch Tribute Concert
Today was it again so far. I got an invitation from Lighthammer to a Doro Pesch tribute concert, and because I like Doro and had time, and was looking forward to see Janet, Jill, Becca, Hans Georg and Dαεηεячş again. So I grabbed my outfit from our "Heavy Metal Headbanging" and filled my dance HUD with Metal dances. At 1pm I was at "The Princess Castle" Sim and was looking forward to the concert of the German Queen of Metal.
A Day in Ibiza
The summer is slowly coming to an end, but we wanted to go to the beach once time again. When could we do this better than as on the "National Beach Day"? Now we were often in the Caribbean this summer, be it to learn to swim or sunbathe. And we were there twice for surfing, one with surf's up! and then with the surfing lessons. But also the pirates were there and searched for their lost treasure before they came back and return to got the hidden rum barrels.
So today we wanted to go to another part of our beach. The Sunshine Realm have some hidden or unnoticed parts. And not only this, we wanted to go with the theme to Europe. "A Day in Ibiza" was our event for the 30th of August. Our frieds and guests came with hot and sexy bikinis and swimsuits with us to the island of the rich in the Balearic Sea.
Heavy Metal Headbangers
After last week's alternating bath with the only weakly attended "Lumberjack Day" event with few visitors and the so successful "Venice at Night" we were of course especially curious. The topic "Heavy Metal Headbangers" was already planned. Would we reach more guests with this topic? But on the other hand it was a Tuesday and we were still somehow in summer time. We wanted to return to Sunshiner's Pub for this time and decorated it accordingly. Here we already had the "Punk Rock Night" event or the trip to the 70s disco time. The Sunshiner's Pub is next to the Trails End Music Hall Club one of the centers in the Sunshine Realm. And some days before we declared it to our frat house for the "College Frat Party".
At the 27th of August is National Just Because Day. What asked us what we could make with this topic? We made a brainstorming and decited, we needed an event were our guests, friends and we self using our heads. Just because, we made our Head Bangers Day. And head banging, this is Heavy Metal. We started with music themes, we had the Garage and events like Rock Night and Underground Rave. We reached last year first time 50 guests at such a rock event. We wanted go back to our roots with this event and made a Metal Night.
Venice at Night
When I write this report today, I am still full of the emotions of the previous evening. And if someone had asked me before this event whether what happened later was also possible in the summer slump, I would have answered with a laugh "No". Just after last week and especially our "Motorcycle Mania" event on Friday, where we apparently had arrived in the reality of summer in SecondLife, and the number of visitors fell short of expectations and also the number of members in our Sunshine Group decreased. But that was yesterday, and today is a new day. And today everything is different. Already when we prepared this event, we had a lot of fun. And we were especially looking forward to this event and put so much energy into the preparation.
Motorcycle Mania
It's been a while since we had our last biker event. Today we symbolically open the "Sunshine Biker Club" with our motorcycle Mania Event. Ok, we are no MC, but somehow the Sunshine Family is also a club. We are looking forward to an event with bikers in leather and boots. We invited everyone to put on a vest and boots and to come out on the street in front of Sunshiner's Pub. We wanted to rock the niche with the big stage together.
We prepared everything, decorated and set up some motorcycles. And of course we were curious what our friends and guests would do with this theme. And of course, if the bad series of the last weekend and especially of Tuesday would continue and if the summer slump would catch us. We had a lot of visitors but also a high fluctuation, so that we had on average only 37 visitors at the end at the same time in the Sim.
Lumberjack Day
Today was our first Lumberjack Day and we wanted to use the summer again and went with our guest and friends back into nature. And the big meadow in front of the "Trails End Music Hall Club" is perfect for that. Let's be honest. A sun-tanned and well-built lumberjack, the play of his muscles and a sweaty body, our hearts beat faster. And not only that happens. And there are these special chequered shirts that stretch around the muscular bodies. And who doesn't even look at his friend's shirt? And maybe only the shirt with a sexy thong. We prepared the meadow with some stacks of wood and axes and invited all to chop them own wood.
This time the anticipation was particularly high again, and many of us thought about it and looked for suitable outfits. Also our men surprised us once again. So the first ones met a few minutes before and Odette was even there to take pictures. She shared it with us at her Flickr- Account and in our Group. Woodstock Anniversary 2nd Day
Today we celebrated the 2nd event of our 50th Woodstock anniversary celebrations. We went again on our new festival place before it will be dismantled tomorrow. We opened this place yesterday for our first event for Woodstock Anniversary Celebration. I have changed some at the stage, there is a new cover and some new lighting effects and fog machines. And celebrate another rock night in the spirit of the music of the late 60s and the hippies. We were flower childs again and felt the power of this very special feeling of life.
Woodstock Anniversary
The legendary Woodstock Festival took place in the summer of 1969. So we celebrate the 50th anniversary. Already last year we built up a big festival place next to a farm and celebrated the 49th anniversary with 2 wonderful events. The music of this time, the lifestyle of the time of the Hippies and Flower Childs and the free love work up to our time. Hippies created their own communities, listened to psychedelic music, embraced the sexual revolution, and many used drugs such as marijuana, LSD, and psilocybin mushrooms to explore altered states of consciousness. Even though the song "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll" was written years later, it describes the attitude to life of this unique time. Woodstock is one of the events that changed the world.
Pirates, the Return
Maybe you read that every year on August 16th the National Rum Day is celebrated. Originally planned we this event for the 16th, but moved it forward. But back to the rum. It is a sweet spirit and comes from sunny Papua New Guinea. The rum made its way to the Caribbean via the West Indies. It awakens images of sandy beaches and colorful umbrellas in fruity drinks. And there was something else. It was also a very popular drink with the pirates. Who doesn't know the song "Yo, ho, ho and a bottle of rum"?

All right, the pirates are gone. Do you really believe that? Through a rift in the time structure they came back to the Sunshine Realm once and searched for their lost treasure. Now they also heard about the rum day and remembered that they buried some barrels of the delicious drink in the sand. And they used the gap in time to land their ship in front of our beach. So began our 2nd pirate event on our beautiful and idyllic Caribbean beach.
Let's go Bowling
Sports events have a long tradition at the Sunshine Realm. In addition to our Sunshine Gym, we have also hosted events on football, baseball, soccer, tennis and, most recently, a roller derby. And today it was sport again and we had come up with something new. Even if it is a bit forgotten now, bowling was a kind of folk sport for a long time. Teams were formed and competitions were held. So we also built our bowling alley in our Roller Derby Hall and are looked forward to this special event. We asked "Who wants to compete against the Sunshine Girls today?" and hoped that many Guests would follow our invitation?
Pre-Season Football Party
Last weekend started the Football Pre-Season and today was our start in the Pre-Season with a party. It's not our first football event and some of us are fan of this sport. Now it's a new season and that was reason enough for us to built a new stadium and invited our guests and friends to our first football event of the 2019/2020 season. Ok, Pre-Season. We asked all which team thems favorite und asked to come with football clothes. Whether as a player or cheerleader. Our new "Sunshine Field" waited for the guests.
College Frat Party
We are looking for new ideas for events again and again and try to use our existing venues for it. This is not easy. But today Misty came up with something special. Who doesn't remember college time and the parties in the fraternities? Most of us had a lot of fun, celebrated and somehow everything was much easier. Ok, these student fraternities and frat houses are probably something American and not so well known in many countries. But we also celebrated, and we all know about the frat parties and have already heard about the student fraternities. There are a lot movies. Today we wanted to celebrate such a party in Sunshiner's Pub as our frat house and our guests and friends were all members of our Sunshine Student Fraternity. We invited all to put on some casual and comfortable casual clothes or get their old college clothes out of the wardrobe. And joined DJ Yezika & Nightwishes for 2.5 hours of fun at Sunshiner's Pub, our frat house. We had decorated everything and provided enough virtual beer for an exuberant party. And now it could only start.
Dark Magic
The Realm of Shades is our Counter-Earth. We built it in January for the Super Blood Wolf Moon. This was supposed to build a special weekend, so the old gothic church ruin with the cemetery and the surrounding swamp was built. There the events took place around the blood moon (Darkness under the Moon, Enchantment under the Moon, Behind the Moon), and actually we wanted to give up the area afterwards again. I had even written the short story "Awaken in the Swamp" and made pictures for this. Later I continued these with "Enchantment under the Moon".The Realm of Shades has fascinated us. We fell in love with our Realm of Shades. It has something special, everyone who has been there before will confirm it.
So we took away the swamp later, but kept the core area. We also came here for some parties, the last one being Walpurgis Night. Then the summer came and our shadow world fell into oblivion.
We had long intended to return to the Realm of Shades, our Counter Earth. The Realm of Shades is something special, maybe the black diamond in our Sunshine Realm. There is a very special atmosphere here. And this is exactly what we want for this event.
Red-Light District
Tonight was a special night at the Sunshine Realm. We built for Odette's Birthday Party last week a Amsterdam style Red-Light District around the Burlesque Palace. There we had an amazing private party with the Burlesque Theme and the amazing singer Sultry Sonata Masterson. And anyone who knows Odette knows how much she loves these two themes. Now we wanted to go with all our guests back to this red-light district to spend a particularly erotic evening.
Review of July
Now the next month is over and it's time to look back. Actually July in SecondLife is a very quiet month. Many of the residents are on vacation or just spending more time with real life activities. So the activities in SecondLife inevitably go back and also we counted on the fact that this month will turn out a little worse. However, we have not given up on the inevitable, but have decided to react with a wider range of offers and new event formats. We also organised two special theme weeks. As in the previous months, we can say in July that we can look back on a successful month. And in many aspects it was the most successful month in 2019.
