Review of November 2019
Now the monthly review of the events in the Sunshine Realm belongs to this blog. And even though I'm a few days late, I'd like to take the opportunity to look back at the past month and perhaps remind some of the diverse and beautiful events we've had here. And even though November in my home country is rather damp and dark, and not really one of my favorites, we can look back on a very good month here in SecondLife. The conditions were not really favorable.
We started November with the "Harvest Festival". The first events this month were different. Misty was on a longer journey and unfortunately couldn't participate in the first four events. But our friends helped us and so we survived this well.
On 11/01/2019 we met at Camp Sunshine and started November with the "Harvest Festival". DJ Valantine has put together a wonderful set and our event was well attended. Some came as natives and others as settlers.
On Saturday we went back to the Trails End Music Hall Club and celebrated a "Country Night". Country nights in our big barn are among our events that we repeat from time to time.
So this routine was also important to have the time to prepare the following week's events, which all took place on the ground. DJ Yuimetal played the right music for a country night and we all had a lot of fun in the barn. And also the after-party with DJ Polpeta was wonderful.
Some of you probably know that I come from Germany. The following week was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. How do you get 3 events thematically for it? It was difficult, but we had a plan. First we built a wall at the Sunshine Realm, and built some tank barriers. It's impossible to recreate the atmosphere of the Berlin Wall, but it was an attempt. So I made some panels with facts about the wall and hung them on a part of the wall. That's how our small Wall Museum came into being. So the week could begin.
The first event of this week was our "80s Party" on 11/05/2019 at Sunshiner's Pub. The fall of the Berlin Wall was in 1989 and we wanted to travel back in time with this event. DJ Yezika had again put together a good set and Bic had helped me to decorate the pub for this event.
Even if not so many guests came, and unfortunately also some of the Sunhine Girls did not appear, because Misty was missing. But all present had a lot of fun in this evening and it was a good mood for this week. And the meaning of the week also came true, I had many conversations about the Berlin Wall, many showed interest and informed themselves.
The 11/08 was the day before the fall of the Berlin Wall. We celebrated the event "The Day after" at the 11/08/2019. In Berlin there were many demonstrations and vigils, also in the churches. But how do you make an event out of it? Then I had the idea of turning the "day before" into a "day after". What if Gorbachev hadn't ordered the Soviet troops to stay in the barracks? If June 27, 1953 had been repeated, or if the Prague Spring of 1968 had been repeated. If not Gorbachev had been general secretary, but someone like Putin. And what if a US president like Trump had been in power and sent the whole world to the inferno? Then there would have been an apocalypse.
And that was exactly our topic for the 10/08/2019, "The Day after", the apocalypse. And almost 90 guests followed our invitation and celebrated with us in the alcoves and the street in front of the Sunshiner's Pub. It was a wonderful evening. I had some burning tires and car wrecks in the street, and also a tank was parked in the street. DJ Valantine entertained us with an awesome set of Hard Rock and Metal music.
On 11/09/2019 we had the main event, our "30 yrs Berlin Wall Fall" event. We also celebrated this event in front of the big stage in the alcoves and the street. I had already removed most parts of the wall, and also the car wrecks were cleared away. It should be in celebration, the guests were asked to choose formal outfits, or at least semi formal ones. And there came again more than 80 guests.
Besides the two DJs we also had Wolfie Starfire singing live that evening. She had a wonderful gig and enchanted all of us with her laughter and voice. So our special week ended on the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and we had more than 200 visitors and a jackpot of L$10,500 this week alone. So this week was crucial for the good result that we should have in November.
And we had a wonderful After-Party with DJ Polpeta like usual.
On 11/12/2019 we celebrated Veteran Day with one day delay. Thematically it even fits to the previous week. After all, it was the support of the US army that ensured the security of West Germany during the Cold War and the Berlin Wall. And the Berlin Airlift during the Berlin Blockade would also be inconceivable without the US armed forces.
Thus many citizens of Berlin have a special relationship with US veterans. And we celebrate this day every year in our clubs. We went for this event in the street in front of the Sunshiner's Pub. And we were all happy that Misty came back well from her trip and was back in Secondlife.
On 11/15/2019 it was time for a Class Reunion at the Trails End Music Hall Club. And at the Sunshine Realm it wasn't just a class reunion, the comic heroes and superheroes had announced themselves. So our guests and friends were invited to look for costumes and show us their favorite superheroes.
Therefore we had decorated the barn and many guests followed the invitation to a colorful event. So we started the weekend with 65 guests, and DJ Valantine had again put together a good set. We all had a nice evening and laughed a lot. And it was a good start for the weekend.
The big finale of this weekend was the "Black & White" Formal Ball in our Sunshine Temple. We all love the formal events, and Mount Olympus with the Sunshine Temple is a very good place for such events, with a unique atmosphere. And on 11/16/2019 everything was Black & White. DJ Yuimetal had prepared a set with romantic music, and 82 guests accepted our invitation. It was a wonderful evening that nobody will forget.
And also the after-party with DJ Polpeta was very nice. And on this evening the men spoiled us and showed us more skin than usual. It's just the after-parties that are naughty. And not only the Sunshine Girls show themselves topless and dance, often guests and of course our men follow.
On the following Tuesday, the 11/19/2019, we made another time travel. This time it was called "English Invasion" and we went back to the 60s with our guests and friends. That was the time when music from Great Britain changed the music world forever. For this event we went to the Sunshiner's Pub again, which was decorated accordingly and reminded of this time. It was a wonderful event and DJ Yezika had put together a suitable set.
On 11/22/2019 it was time to go to the casino again. This time it was "Vegas Nights" and we had chosen the Burlesque Palace and decorated it again. DJ Valantine had put together a set with blues and jazz music. While outside the building the cars were parked at the blue pyramid, inside the gaming tables were waiting for the guests.
Of course, there were no games this time either, and it was only the theme for the costumes. And the guests came to us with semi formal and formal outfits and we had a wonderful evening. And again more than 70 guests came. It was again a good prelude to a weekend at the Sunshine Realm.
And of course we stripped again and changed our clothes to lingerie. The after-parties belong to our events. DJ Valantine continued her set with romantic rock, blues and jazz. And our Burlesque Palace is a special place for such events.
And because November in Europe and the USA is rather grey and rainy, we also went into the rain. On 11/23/2019 it was "Sweet November Rain" and we went to the Sunshine Garden again. DJ Yuimetal had put together a set with rock music. Our guests were invited to visit us in rubber boots and raincoats or with your umbrella. And again more than 70 guests came and danced with us in the rain. And colorful clothes make the dreariest place colorful. Not that the Sunshine Garden is dull, but in November rain it needs bright colors.
And also on this day it was again "After-Party" and DJ Polpeta took over the entertainment for them. It was a nice end.
And that was Thanksgiving week. On Tuesday the 11/26/2019 we had our "Erntedankfest". We chose the German name to make it clear that it shouldn't just be an early Thanksgiving. It should be a challenge for our friends and guests to find and prepare an outfit and not just another Thanksgiving. Traditionally this is not a holiday in Germany and we usually celebrate at the beginning of October. And that mostly in the context of church services in churches. But we really wanted to thank nature who filled the tables again this year. Therefore our theme was nature spirits, fairies, gnomes and elves. And we all just live in one world together that we share.
The good spirits of nature. So we celebrated our special thanksgiving at Camp Sunshine. The large meadow in front of the Trails End Music Hall Club was filled with many different nature spirits. DJ Yezika entertained us well and almost 60 guests accepted our invitation.
And even if only for a few minutes, also on this day it was again "After-Party ... Boobies Time". But in the week most of them have to go to bed earlier, so we all disappeared around 8pm.
Then it happened again. Thanksgiving in the USA. Even if this holiday hasn't arrived in Europe yet, it was this unique feeling. And since we are also a family, we celebrate this holiday every year at the Sunshine Realm or the clubs we had before. And it is always something special for me to decorate the venue.
And since we are not open on Thursday, and most of our American friends spend time with their families, we celebrated our "Thanksgiving" a little late on 11/29/2019 at the Trails End Music Hall Club like last year. Everything was prepared and decorated and it was traditionally called native Indians and Pilgrims again.
And again many guests came to this event. DJ Valantine entertained us with a wonderful set of romantic and traditional music. It was a very special event, and 60 guests came to our Thanksgiving at the Sunshine Realm.
And then came the last event in November. And because it was Thanksgiving week, it should somehow stay American. So we celebrated the event "Welcome NBA" on 11/30/2019 and built a basketball court for it. Sports events have a long tradition at the Sunshine Realm, so we already had a soccer field, several football stadiums, tennis courts, roller blade derby rink, a bowling hall and a baseball stadium. And we had a motorsport event too. Well, this time it was basketball. And the guests came in sportswear, it was a nice ending for a successful month. DJ Yuimetal had put together a music with refreshing music.
And of course the last event of the month also had an after-party. Once again DJ Polpeta took over the entertainment and we danced and laughed together. And that was the end of November in our Sunshine Realm. And it was a good month.
The Month in Numbers
This part is also part of the monthly review. A look at the numbers and the development of the Sunshine Realm. The statistcs of the Sunshine Realm. I have already interpreted it once. The past month was the most successful this year in terms of numbers. We had organized 14 events in November and had 853 visitors to these. We outbid the previous leader August and had an average of more than 60 visitors at our events. This is an amazing success. We also set a new record for our monthly jackpot. In November L$27,500 were distributed to our guests and friends. Of this, L$17,000 came directly from us, the other L$10,500 were donations from our friends we received for the jackpot. We would like to thank you again, we can be really happy and proud to receive so much support. Thanks to all of you. Since our contest is always conducted in split mode, each vote is equivalent to a share of the profits. We also had more votes in November than in the months before, a total of 527 people voted. There corresponds to a share of L$52.18. If you participated in all 14 events and came with a friend, you could have won more than 730 L$. Here's something general again. We warn participants who ask others for votes or trade in votes. Unfortunately, we can't always find that out, but generally you should try to come to our events with your friends and relatives and get the votes here.Of course, the annual evaluation should not be missing at this point. We have now completed 11 months. And 143 of the planned 156 events are over. So only December remains. We had 7,329 visitors on our events and the total jackpot was 224,250 L$. The Sunshine Realm is really unique in SecondLife. With the support of the Sunshine Family we are able to organize new and unique events every week. So it is not only a challenge for us, but also for our friends and all our guests. So they have to find suitable outfits again and again. But it also offers room for fantasy. Some of our friends also delve into the topics, visit other Sims to collect ideas or deal with the background of the respective topic. This way we constantly learn new things and also deal with other cultures. Some make fantastic pictures before or after our events, which show the inspiration through our events. So our events offer far more action than just the 6.5 hours at which we have our events. And exactly that makes SecondLife so unique. And that is also the Sunshine Realm.
And also the number of members in our Sunshine Rocker Group has increased further. We lost some visitors at the end of the month and started with 879 members. Even though I developed it slowly at the beginning, we were able to reach the 1,000 member limit for the first time at the Erntedankfest, one of our harvest festivals on 11/26/2019. But it is still no reason to celebrate, because some members have left the group again. So we ended the month with 996 members. Maybe in December we will reach the goal of having more than 1,000 permanent members in our group.
